Harry looked with satisfaction at the table.  All was ready; the meal was prepared, candles were waiting to be lit, soft music was playing, and Severus would be home soon.

He turned and smiled as Severus arrived.  His smile slipped slightly as he was offered a bunch of plants, flowers would have been an exaggeration.

“I asked Longbottom to suggest something different, something which would never be expected,” Severus said.

“Maybe Neville would have benefitted from a little more detail,” Harry replied.

“Yes, I wasn’t entirely sure these were appropriate,” Severus agreed.

Harry sighed.  “And they say romance is dead.”

LOL. Severus is a lost cause, isn't he? I loved the realistic my-man-remembered-to-be-romantic-but-totally-sucked-at-it dynamic you portrayed here. It made the boys feel relatable and put the biggest smile on my face. Kudos on a job well done,smallhobbit. :)
